Die Entwicklung des Jetcar wurde 1998 von den Brüdern Christian Wenger-Rosenau und Michael Wenger begonnen. Die Grundidee war, ein leichtes, strömungsgünstiges Fahrzeug mit extrem niedrigem Kraftstoffverbrauch zu entwickeln. Dies sollte durch einen leichten Stahlrahmen, eine GFK-Karosserie und den Einsatz eines kleinvolumigen Dieselmotors erreicht werden.
