Better Style w/ GreaseMonkey!
May 3, 2005
Sometimes you come along a web site with unreadable color styles. And while you try to read the article on the screen your eyes get tired and your hand automatically decides to print the entire story for reading off line.
Until now.
Recently I discovered GreaseMonkey, a Mozilla Firefox extension which lets you add your own DHTML to any web page and change its style and behavior. And so did I today when I serendiptously crossed Hyper links and Law - Alexandra Puehringer - Law Firm.
That’s how it looked before I applied my script (actually you can see only a part of the original content — they are lawyers, they will not hesitate to sue me for copyright infringement):

and after I applied my Script:

The original web page had low contrast and some unusual typographical styles (lawyers seem to love old fashioned typewriter-styles, even if they never have used one in their entire life …), like those underlined and itemized headings. I changed the text color to black and removed underlines and item bullets.
Of course you can do a whole lot more with GreaseMonkey. For some example scripts take a look here and here.
You can download my script here. By the way, I’d like to thank Alexandra for her interesting article.
